    ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY


OhioOnline strives to provide its customers with the highest quality Internet service that is available and at the same time respect the standards that have been created within the Internet community. To that end OhioOnline believes that certain activities and conduct are inappropriate or abusive and will not be tolerated on OhioOnline's network. This list is not meant to be exhaustive, but merely illustrative of examples of conduct deemed by OhioOnline to be inappropriate and improper and therefore prohibited on OhioOnline's network. OhioOnline's network may only be used for lawful purposes. The transmission of material that is in violation of any federal, state or local law, or that is protected by trademark, trade secret or other intellectual property, is strictly prohibited.

Customers are prohibited from using the OhioOnline network to transmit material that is judged by OhioOnline to be illegal, proprietary, obscene, criminal, or in some fashion inconsistent with the generally accepted standards of the Internet community.

OhioOnline has zero tolerance for the use of its network by anyone for the distribution of unsolicited bulk commercial email transmissions (i.e. “spamming” or dissemination of pornographic or gambling related material).

OhioOnline has zero tolerance for the use of its network for the posting of messages or commercial advertisements which violate the rules, regulations, FAQs or charter of any newsgroup or mailing list. Commercial messages that are appropriate under the rules of a newsgroup or mailing list or that are solicited by the recipients are permitted.

Anyone who publishes materials and information which are accessible through OhioOnline's network is solely responsible for the content of such materials and information and is solely responsible to know and comply with all laws applicable to the publication and distribution of such materials and information. OhioOnline does not accept responsibility for the content of the materials and information published by others which is accessible through the OhioOnline network and does not accept responsibility for the violation of any laws resulting from such publication or distribution.

OhioOnline is an access provider and as such exercises no control over the content of the information passing through its network. It is expected that OhioOnline's customers will comply with whatever rules or Acceptable Use Policies that are appropriate for those networks accessed through OhioOnline. Each OhioOnline customer accepts the responsibility to avoid whatever material it finds offensive. If any OhioOnline customer interferes with others' use and enjoyment of the services provided by OhioOnline, such customer shall be deemed to be in violation of this Acceptable Use Policy. Each customer of OhioOnline must ensure that its customers do not act in a way that violates OhioOnline's Acceptable Use Policy. OhioOnline customers are expected to bring their customers into compliance with OhioOnline' Acceptable Use Policy or risk their service being discontinued.

OhioOnline is solely responsible for determining if a violation of the Acceptable Use Policy has occurred. Even though OhioOnline does not review or censor materials and information which is accessible on OhioOnline' network or other networks which may be connected to OhioOnline's network, if OhioOnline becomes aware that one of its customers is in violation of this Acceptable Use Policy, OhioOnline reserves the right to suspend or terminate service without notice. In addition, OhioOnline reserves the right to interpret this Acceptable Use Policy in its sole discretion and to amend, revise, add or delete any provision of this Acceptable Use Policy.

When you are connected to the OOI Internet network directly or indirectly through a subscriber ISP, OOI's customers are prohibited from engaging in any type of activity that will infringe upon the rights of other users or interfere with the service of any host, node user, network or subnet. Among such prohibited activities, one is commonly referred to as a "Denial of Service Attack". It may involve, but is not limited to "flood pinging" or a syn flood attack, using programs and devices in an attempt to intentionally or unintentionally overload another device, session, network or services by overwhelming that computer. Any attempts at hacking, cracking, spoofing or phishing to thwart any system's security measures is strictly forbidden. Failure to comply with these guidelines will result in immediate termination our your service without notification or prior warning. Only OOI will determine in its sole discretion when the service can, or will be restored.
